Formed in Los Angeles in early 2010 as ‘Living Eulogy’, the name VARNA was taken from the street that the hard rock trio’s rehearsal studio was located on and most importantly, the escape where they could take refuge from working full time at their mundane day jobs. “VARNA symbolizes to us, the place and time where you get to live out your dreams.” In late 2013, following the official name change, VARNA released their debut EP, ‘THIS TIME, IT’S PERSONAL’ featuring ‘My Heart’ and ‘Running Away’. Emotive and raw, VARNA impressed with attention grabbing mix of commercial pop vocals accompanied by sizzling hard rock guitars. Produced by Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, Saosin, I the Mighty), TTIP immediately received international acclaim through press, reaching countries such as England, Ireland, Bulgaria, Australia, Latin America and The Philippines as well as gracing US charts in the company of artists such as Linkin Park and Three Days Grace. 2014 proved to be an even bigger year for Varna. Angeles’ KLOS FM ‘Stay or Go’ with Heidi & Frank plus multiple media press, it lead to a sponsorship deal with ColdCock Whiskey and their loyal fan base (#VARNFAMILY) securing a spot for them on 2014’s VANS Warped Tour. 2015, saw VARNA return to the studio to record their sophomore release with Erik Ron once again, while continuously promoting their debut in partnership with JOURNEY’S, to launch ‘My Heart’ nationwide in over 600 stores in July. The year also brought along a nomination for ‘Rock Artist of the Year’ at the 2015 Los Angeles Music Awards while this year landed VARNA two 2016 NAIRMA (North American Independent Rock Awards) nominations. The first being ‘Female Fronted Group of the Year” and the second is the coveted “People’s Choice” award presented during the 2016 NAMM show. VARNA snagged the winning title as the 2016 NAIRMA ‘People’s Choice’ recipients and performed at the prestigious event alongside Drowning Pool, Act of Defiance and Screaming for Silence.
